Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how M4AtoMP3.org (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use M4AtoMP3.org (the “Site”). The short version: your audio and video files never leave your device. We do not upload, store or see them. The Site uses cookies mainly for advertising, as described below.
1. Your files
All conversions run locally in your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Files you select or drop into a converter are read into your browser’s memory, converted on your device, and offered back to you as downloads. They are not transmitted to our servers or to any third party, and they are discarded when you close or reload the page. We have no technical ability to access them.
For some formats, the converter downloads the open-source ffmpeg.wasm program code from a public content delivery network (jsDelivr). This is a one-way download of software to your browser; none of your audio is sent with that request. Like any web request, the CDN receives standard technical data such as your IP address and browser type.
2. Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider may record standard server logs (IP address, browser user agent, requested page, referring page, date and time) for security and reliability. These logs are kept for a limited period and are not used to identify you personally.
We do not require accounts and do not ask for your name, email address or payment details. If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply and keep a record of the correspondence.
3. Cookies and local storage
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We and our partners use the following:
| Type | Purpose | Set by |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary (local storage) | Remembers your cookie-consent choice (cookie-consent). No personal data. | M4AtoMP3.org |
| Advertising | Serves ads, limits how often you see them, measures performance, prevents fraud and — only with your consent — personalises ads. | Google and its partners |
We do not use cookies for anything related to your converted files.
4. Google AdSense and advertising
The Site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and how Google uses cookies in advertising at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Where required by law, we ask for your consent before personalised advertising cookies are used. We implement Google Consent Mode: until you accept, advertising storage and personalisation are set to “denied”, and Google may show non-personalised ads, which still use cookies for frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, we may also use a Google-certified consent management platform.
5. Your choices
You can change your consent at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the converters will continue to work without cookies.
6. Legal bases (EEA/UK visitors)
We process limited technical data on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure, reliable website, and advertising cookies for personalisation on the basis of your consent. You have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
7. California and other US state privacy rights
We do not sell personal information for money. Some advertising cookie use may be considered “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under certain state laws; you can opt out by rejecting non-essential cookies, through Google’s Ads Settings, or by using a Global Privacy Control signal where supported.
8. Children
The Site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Security and data retention
Because files are processed on your device, there is no copy of your audio on our side to protect or delete. The Site is served over HTTPS. Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
